A few bleak statistics are all we need to realize that the health of Pakistan as a country leaves much to be desired:

Pakistan spends only 2.6 percent of its GDP on health, the sixth lowest rate in the world

A 2018 UNICEF report revealed that Pakistan has the highest Infant Mortality Rate in the world – newborns here face a one in 22 chance of dying within a month of birth

Pakistan has a Maternal Mortality Rate of 127/100,000 which accounts for 28 percent of the global total

Every 37 minutes, one woman dies giving birth in Pakistan (14,000 woman every year)

40 percent of children in Pakistan are malnourished and out of those, 11 percent are severely malnourished

177,000 children die every year in Pakistan because they or their mothers are malnourished

Diseases such as acute respiratory infections, malaria, dengue fever, tuberculosis, Hepatitis A and C still plague Pakistan, though they have been controlled in much of the world

Even with the present scenario, HOPE sees potential for improvement in Pakistan’s health state.Consider these points:

80 percent of newborn deaths are preventable with trained midwives, clean water, proper hygiene, and breastfeeding within the first hour

Out of the 14,000 deaths of women due to childbirth, 1/3 of these are preventable (4,500 per year)

Climate conditions, poverty, and lack of access to adequate healthcare make Pakistan susceptible to many diseases that are preventable and/or treatable

HOPE's Healthcare Network

Since 1997, HOPE has been chipping away at the abominable health issues facing Pakistan through a network of hospitals, maternal and child centers, basic health units, and mobile health units. In 2017, we were able to treat 552,000 impoverished men, women, and children for free or minimal cost at all our health facilities:

Hospitals

As of 2018, HOPE has established four charitable hospitals in Pakistan: one in Karachi, one in Thatta, one in Zia Colony, and one in Sujawal. Each hospital is complete with surgical facilities, a neonatal intensive care unit, and labor and delivery rooms. In 2017, over 552,000 patients were seen altogether at all four hospitals. Combined, over 10,500 surgeries were conducted and over 6,800 babies were delivered.
