HOPE Begins Relief Work in Karachi after Floods

Dear HOPE Friends,

We wanted to thank each and every one of you for the outpouring of support for our Emergency Flood Relief - Karachi campaign! HOPE USA began relief work in the marginalized communities of Shanti Nagar and Bilal Colony yesterday. A total of 500 flood victims were given aid:

  • Biryani and juice boxes distributed

  • Victims given P&G PuR kits to sanitize contaminated water

  • Victims given clean drinking water for their families

  • Medical camps will be set up next week to treat illnesses

  • Dry food rations will be distributed in two weeks

As you can see in the pictures, the communities that HOPE treats are all in impoverished neighborhoods and our beneficiaries are all zakat-eligible. We will continue relief efforts for the next few weeks while gauging the needs of various communities.

A last detail I wanted to point out was our partnership with Proctor & Gamble: our beneficiaries are given PuR sachets which consist of a Cooler, Bucket, Muslin Cloth, Spatula, and 250 sachets. These sachets are specially designed to convert contaminated water into water that is safe to consume. HOPE USA is proud to say that we are the only ngo in Pakistan which has been given the privilege of distributing P&G PuR sachets to marginalized communities across Pakistan.

Thank you all for your support and please enjoy the pictures of your donations at work.

Best regards,

Ambereen Siddiqui

Director HOPE USA
